We are anxiously awaiting the end of the month when we get to see our little one and find out if its a Michael or Heather!
I'm currently 18 weeks and 3 days into this precious journey called pregnancy. We've been working hard to finish the storage building so we can start clearing out the baby's room. It's been a slow process but we are getting so close. We had a time getting the doors in place but we got it done. We have some more siding to cut and we need to shingle the roof and do some trim work. It's close enough that we were able to move some stuff out of the baby's room this weekend. M says I'm nesting already! :) I'm mesmerized by the changes taking place in my body. I keep bumping my belly into stuff. I looked down while helping M with the storage building and saw my belly sticking out into my view. I just had to take a picture. We went out to take a few picture of my baby belly at 16 weeks. It was a cold morning but we got a few. My baby belly is starting to form and I'm loving my comfy prego clothes. My food wants change week to week. My favorite foods are now peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwiches, jolly ranchers, fried burritos with chocolate milk, hot dogs, cereal, and microwave dinners. Oh and trips to Wal-mart for the melon variety pack that has cantaloupe, honey dew and watermelon. I'm not really into meat most days. We've learned to buy small variety of foods that sound good at the moment because next week it will be different.
We are anxiously awaiting the end of the month when we get to see our little one and find out if its a Michael or Heather!

Wow, a lot has happened since my last post. Since then, I've been to the clinic at work to find out that the reason I hadn't been feeling well for awhile is this... OMG!! I'm what?!! 9 weeks pregnant!! Since then we called and made our first OB appointment and have been twice now. The first visit I was 10 weeks. The Dr. was in surgery, so we met with his nurse. She tried to find the baby's heartbeat, but it was a little too early. The Dr. was in this week and we got to hear the baby's heartbeat at 12 weeks!!! I think we were both relieved to finally get to hear it. I'm really not crazy...there really is a baby in there! We've been building a storage building since finding out about our new addition to our family. The baby's room is currently our junk room. Dad came 2 weeks ago to help us start building. He brought some leftover lumber he had and we got the floor finished before making a run to Lowes. We finished the floor, walls, and siding before calling it a week. Our next weekend off didn't go as planned....snowwww. We hope to finish this weekend. I'm ready to get started on the baby's room! My favorite foods so far are apples and oranges, ramen (at least it's cheap), blueberry bagels and apple cinnamon oatmeal, mac and cheese, dried apricots, oh and my all time best....CRACKERS!! I wake Michael up at all hours rattling my cracker package and getting up to pee! I've been lucky. No trips to the bathroom to hug the toilet. You're crazy if you think my stomach hasn't felt like I'm seasick all the time tho. It's been a great journey and we are so excited to find out if we are having a little Michael or Heather.
My birthday is tomorrow, but Monday is a better day for us...so out exploring early this morning we went! We headed out around 6:30 and ended up on the other side of Crosbyton at the Silver Falls Rest Area at sun up. This is a very nice rest area. And here is the beautiful sunrise we found... Such a beautiful morning! But oh soooo cold!! We explored awhile and took many amazing pictures. Wow were our hands froze by the time we finished taking pictures!
I found a recipe for dishwashing soap here. I want to do some changes on my next go round. I think I could do with less lemi shine since my town water isn't as hard. Homemade Dishwashing Soap 1c Borax 1c Arm and Hammer Washing Soda 1c Lemi Shine 1/2c Kosher Salt This is what you need. It's a lot like the laundry soap, just a few extra things. Stir all the ingredients together and this is what you get. Note...I halved the recipe I found so it would fit in my 1 quart jar. It has a tendency to harden, so you have to shake it often.
I have been searching for an HE washing machine recipe for laundry soap and finally did it! It was super easy and I was able to find everything I needed at Wal-mart. I found the recipe here. This is all the ingredients we purchased to make both the laundry soap and the dishwasher soap. It all added up to $16.79. Other than needing to buy more lemi-shine and fels naptha, we have plenty to make more of each. Homemade Laundry Soap 1 Bar of Fels Naptha 1c Borax 1c Washing Soda 1/4c Oxiclean This is all you need to make your own laundry soap. We found it all at Wal-mart. I started off using the hand grater...then a salad shooter...then after combining everything into a mason jar, I decided I wanted the fels naptha to blend better with the other ingredients, so we put it in the food processor and milled it. That worked better for us! We made a funnel out of a few sheets of paper and poured the ingredients into a 1 quart mason jar. Our first batch of homemade laundry soap for our HE washer. It worked great and you only use 1tbs per load! Check back for our homemade dishwasher soap adventure soon!!
I got to see Rusty today! He does such a great job on my hair. I took so many pictures trying to get a good picture of Rustys work...but this is the best I could do today. I love it!

We were on our way to Texas Tech to check out pregame fun...but there was so much traffic that we drove past. My love took me to Wiley's BBQ on the east side of Lubbock. Wow! That was some great food. After eating, we decided to head out to Assiter Pumpkin Ranch. This is always a good way to welcome fall and see the beauty of the season. There are pumpkins everywhere and lots of pictures to take!
We started our morning off at Cast Iron Grill for breakfast. This homestyle cooking is the best ever! I had a delicious veggie omelet with a gravy covered biscuit. It was very good and the portions are filling. If you are in downtown Lubbock...check them out! After breakfast we headed out for some geocaching and sunrise photos. I took a lot of sunrise and nature photos at the Footprints Of History at Dunbar Historical Lake. While we were there, we were doing a little geocaching. We walked and walked around the waterfall looking for a cache, but we never did find it. We gave up and moved on to another area of the park and again, wasn't able to find it either. We left the park and ended up at the old Stubb's Bar-B-Que. I thought this was interesting and we finally found a cache. I love geocaching for this reason. I enjoy discovering new places!!
